| BIOGRAPHY: Stoner rock band Kaihoro which crawls from the industrial area of Karhula and the swampy shores of river Kymi has finished its third full length album. The album which carries the name "Skyhook" will be released 7th of April 2010. "Skyhook", which the band has been slowly brewing for three years, could be described as the most epic yet the most catchiest work by the band. The listener had better be musically accustomed to some pretty strong brew, because Kaihoro is no over-cultivated light product. Dirty soundscape and melodies inspired by the LSD-coloured rock of the 70s are a crucial part of the core of Kaihoro. Kaihoro, founded in 2002 as a stoner rock band, has developed from its era of more raw expression to that of complex melodies and stories. Progressive rock as well as progressive lyrics are strongly present in the world of Kaihoro today. The members of Kaihoro are Markku Pihlaja (vocals) and Kalke Kukkonen (drums), who have been a part of the Karhula rock scene since the early 1990s, and Harri Pikka (guitar), Saku Hakuli (guitar) and Pasi Hakuli (bass), who have been prominent figures in building the death metal reputation of Karhula. Kaihoro published their debut album"Mainheadskull" in 2004. Its follow-up, "Boulder" saw light in the Spring of 2007. After recording "Boulder", keyboardist Monni Reinamo also joined the group. The band continues a cycle of three years between the releases of albums when Kaihoro publishes their new album, "Skyhook", through their own label in 7.4.2010. Distribution and promotion will be handled by Playground Music Scandinavia. "Skyhook" has been recorded in different studios through the Autumn of 2009 and mastered at Finnvox by Minerva Pappi in January of 2010. ![]() |
